MVM Minutes: 2019/05/23
Missouri Valley Marketing Meeting Minutes of May 23, 2019 held at the Highway 12 Caffe at 8:30am.
Jenni Bonser (President)
Nichole Brown (Vice President)
Vic Sample (Secretary Treasurer)
Pam Sample (Director)
LaRinda Spencer (Director)
MVM Meeting Time Change
Larinda asked if the members would be willing to change the MVM Meeting time. We have historically had breakfast meetings starting at 8:30am. That time has become a hinderance to some of the members and we feel that some potential members are being excluded because the time is during normal business hours for those still working.
The membership voted to change the meeting time from 8:30 to noon on Thursdays - normally every other week.
The meeting dates, times and locations are posted on the MVM website.
Corridor Grant Update
Crystal from Windfall indicated they will be ready for a conference call at the latest by the early next week. She also asked for photos so please share any you may have.
There were 30 volunteers and 8 requests for assistance. There was about the same amount of trash left on the street for pickup as last year. (We did not discuss the most improved business prize---which is $100 1st, $50 2nd and $25 3rd as was approved at the last meeting in April.)
County Wide Yard Sale
LaRinda has been sharing the yard sale on Facebook. Jenni asks everyone to please take the time to take photos on the day of the Yard Sale. Formal deadline is June 4th to participate, but we can enter addresses at a later date until the maps are printed. The Broadwater Reporter ad has been changed to advertise to buyers and locals know they can call and get their addresses added.
Discussed progress on grants from Rotary, BCDC and Broadwater Community. Jenni has received donations for painting and county maintenance (Mike M.) will paint.
The only event at the Senior Center in June will be Bingo on a Tuesday afternoon and Pam will organize it. The $7.00 fee was acceptable to the participants and no extra money was necessary last time.
Told Laura that the gas stove needs servicing and it does need professional cleaning.
Dianes Calendar Project
Diane will get with Jenni and then move forward with the project. After the cost is decided we will decide how much to sell the calendar for at the FallFest Booth.
Upcoming Demolay/Rainbow Girl Reunion
MVM will promote the event that is scheduled for June 29, 2019.
Fall Fest Booth
As discussed last meeting, booth has been reserved and discussed what we will have at booth. Canton Church picture will be raffled on the last day (Sunday). Jenni is almost done with a table. The church tickets will be 6 for $5 or $1.00 per ticket. The Table will be 6 for $20 or $5.00 a piece. We did not discuss if we would raffle it off on the last day. Need to discuss. The calendars will be sold at a price TBD. Need to contact Crystal with Windfall about where she found less expensive items to give away that would have MVM printed on it. Also discussed putting our mission statement in the booth on a banner or printed on a large poster that we can reuse.
Booth coverage is a problem as most of MVM members are Rotary members. Discussed offering Townsend Chamber/BCDC an opportunity to share booth with us.
Diane is looking for a reasonable printer and is going to get with Jenni to discuss it.
Discussed dues and decided not at this time. Jenni will continue offering videos/photographs. Perhaps at the booth ask for donations with a sign, “Investing in your Community” “Donations Welcome.”
Nichole suggested selling tickets to a Brunch at the Townsend Lodge.
Ross had applied for the Destination Grant Application and received $15,000 grant for Rotary to advertise Fall Fest. Did not discuss the Rural Activity Grant.
Jenni brought in the fish that she is sewing horns on for promoting Broadwater County recreation and businesses (for online posting).
